2015 My Year of Looking at Auto Immunity

Dear All,

I know that it has been a long long time since I last posted.  I have been putting together my thoughts for the year ahead.  I have made a decision to focus on one thing this year and that is autoimmunity.

I understand that there are an estimated 50 -75 million Americans and over 150 million sufferers of autoimmune conditions worldwide.   This can only mean one thing – there is an almighty amount of people out there who are looking to find a way to get their life back.

So this year, if you have an auto immune disease, watch this space.

My first offering is a nourishing soup recipe which for many of you will be really healing.  For some it will be inappropriate.  If you start taking this daily, watch your symptoms and see.

Hippocrates Soup

Max Gerson developed this soup which he calls: Hippocrates Soup to support people who were overcoming cancer using his natural protocol.  This recipe heals and strengthens the immune system and kidneys making it a perfect daily addition to the diet of anyone struggling with autoimmune disease.

I would like to say however, that for some this soup will not be useful as it contains members of the nightshade family which for some can exacerbate their symptoms.  I will be looking at such triggers over the next year and showing you how to avoid them.

Hippocrates Soup Recipe

The Gerson Therapy

 

Equipment

Use a stainless steel pot that can hold up to 4 1/2 litres (4-quart)

Assemble the following vegetables

Cover with pure quality water (as clean and fresh as you can manage)

 

Ingredients

1 medium celery knob or 3-4 stalks of celery

1 medium parsley root – if available

Garlic as desired

2 small leeks (if not available, replace with 2 medium onions)

680g (1 ½ pounds) tomatoes or more

2 medium onions

450g (1 pound) of potatoes

A little parsley.

 

Directions

  1. Do not peel any of these special soup vegetables
  2. Wash and scrub them well
  3. Cut them coarsely
  4. Simmer them slowly for 2 hours
  5. Then put them through a food mill in small portions
  6. Only fibers should be left
  7. Vary the amount of water used for cooking according to taste and desired consistency.
  8. Keep well covered  in refrigerator no longer that 2 days
  9. Warm up as much as needed each time

 

 

Note:  For recipes that call for soup stock, use the liquid from this special soup.
