Oxygen, acidity and the bicarbonate of soda connection.

Oxygen and Acidity

If we accept that Dr Simoncini is correct with his correlation between cancer and the Candida fungus then the following look at the role of oxygen in the body helps to strengthen his argument;

Oxygen is a life giving element. Thus things that sustain us are ‘aerobic’ – oxygen loving – while everything that works against us; hostile microbes, viruses, bacteria and diseased growths are ‘ anaerobic’, which means that they hate oxygen and cannot survive in its presence.

An interesting observation is that gym work-outs, aerobic classes and competitive sport despite keeping the body fit, actually deplete oxygen levels and put the body into an oxygen debt situation which takes some time to replenish. The ultimate way to increase the body’s oxygen levels is through gentle exercise, such as walking, gentle jogging, swimming, even though some oxygen is used, these activities generate an oxygen surplus state.

The following link offers a look at free radical damage and oxidative stress caused by workouts and how a plant based diet can reverse the stress caused.  Dr Michael Greger observes several papers published on the effects of exercise on our DNA and how, without the protective effect of plants, we may be doing more damage than good.

When a body becomes dehydrated we see a picture of anaerobic cell conditions (poor oxygen) and acidity.  As a body becomes more toxic, so the bodily processes slow and result in less oxygen being transported around the body.  Fungi can thrive in such conditions where normal cells cannot function normally.

It has been suggested that cancer (or Fungi) cells are actually normal cells that have had to de-evolve into a lower functioning organism in order to survive the stress factors imposed by the poor oxygen and acidic environment. If the environment were healthy then the cells would be healthy too.  Here we see that the body has not caught some disease, more that the cells have undergone a de-evolutionary transformation into cancer cells as a survival strategy.

According to Nobel prize winner 1931,  Dr. Otto Warburg,

“Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Water splits into H+ and OH- ions, if there is an access of H+, it is acidic; if there is an excess of OH- ions, then it is alkaline.”

In his work The Metabolism of Tumors he demonstrated that all forms of cancer are characterized by two basic conditions: Acidosis and Hypoxia (lack of oxygen). Lack of oxygen and acidosis are two sides of the same coin: where you have one, you have the other.

“All normal cells have an absolute requirement for oxygen, but cancer cells can live without oxygen – a rule without exception.” – Dr. Otto Warburg

“Deprive a cell 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may become cancerous.” “Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar.” — Dr. Otto H. Warburg in Lecture [7]

Cancer patients have been found to have an acidic blood PH level.

If we imagine a rubbed balloon that cannot stick to the wall in wet weather, this represents oxygen that cannot fix onto a blood cell if the blood becomes too acidic.

Deep breathing and oxygenating the system will only help so far.  The limited capacity for holding oxygen that these acidic cells have, means that any oxygen that is picked up is quickly absorbed by oxygen starved cells around it.  The oxygen fails to penetrate the deeper parts of the body where it is required the most.

An acidic PH also means that carbon dioxide is not efficiently eliminated from the body and instead builds up in tissues resulting in cell death.

In his weekly digest blog Doctor Michael Greger identified which had the most impact on cancer; exercise or diet.  Both helped, but a vegan diet showed more promise after just two weeks.  Read the interesting article here:

The following points for treating cancer have been identified in the Johns Hopkins Hospital newsletter; of course this advice can be adopted for any yeast related condition;

  • “Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells.
  • Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.”
  • “Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.”
  • “A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).”
  • Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water – best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic. Avoid it.”
  • ‘Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic build up.”
  • Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
  • “Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6 , Flor-ssence , Essiac , anti-oxidants , vitamins , minerals , EFAs, etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.”
  • “Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment.
  • “Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.”

  1. What would you recommend for a cancer patient who has lung cancer and has been given 3 months to live? I don’t think they would be able to exercise. He is currently in the hospital. Would it help if they gave him pure oxygen through a mask?

    1. Hi Stefanie,
I am so sorry to hear that you are helping someone battling lung cancer. I think that I am not allowed to suggest any ‘cure’ for cancer. However what I can say is that I have just lost an aunt this week to cancer who chose not to look at alternatives (and I completely respect her decision just to let things be). Her’s was not lung cancer but nevertheless I geared myself up to help her if she chose.

I nearly forgot to answer your question on oxygen. I don’t have any personal experience with this but I found the following link that seems to be really good at explaining the options:http://www.breathing.com/articles/oxygen-therapies.htm

If I was diagnosed with cancer I would look at Gerson Juicing therapy, I would look at Dr Simoncini’s idea of cancer as a fungus and hence avoid all yeasts and sugars and try to starve it. I would also look at the ‘hands of Christ’ castor oil packing (look at my top tab ‘healthy’, move to ‘techniques’ and then take the only tab to ‘castor oil’ for a few ideas) and pack my liver and any areas where the tumour was and also the bowels at times to keep things moving.
I would use enemas to ensure that my areas of elimination were open- this I believe to be crucial. For many people in the last stages, the body starts to shut down, if the bowels aren’t moving then any success that you might have in treating the tumour might be negated by the fact that once the toxins have been released, there is nowhere for them to go, without a fully functioning bowel toxins can get reabsorbed for the body to deal with once again.
However, one area that at first you or they might reject, but I say really look at before you dismiss, is Urine therapy. I have read books and searched the net and found utterly amazing stories of how this seemingly impossible bodily fluid is offering incredible results. A sixty (or whatever) day fast would be my first choice now having read so much about it. I would also use urine rubbing and if possible I would try the injections for pain relief that are mentioned in the link that I have provided.

I think that I would start very gently with a few drops under the tongue to get things started and work myself into a complete fast after cutting down over a period of days using vegetable juicing and enemas and maybe some castor oil packing. I feel that the urine works in a similar way to a blood transfusion, but has the added benefit of providing all of your immune response – a huge boost to your system to have nothing but powerful antidotes each time you take it.

I must insist that I have no experience of this in treating cancer, over what I have read, but I have read extensively for the past two years and this has come to me recently and makes perfect sense – giving the body nothing but its own medicine day in day out, starving the cancer of any food at all and also not giving the body anything to do except heal itself (no food processing).

Some methods suggest a few drops under the tongue a few times a day, to give an auto immune response.
Some suggest a complete fast, drinking only every drop of urine that you produce with water and nothing else at all for around 60 days (yes I did say 60!)
Some suggest rubbing it – for maximum absorption and to draw toxins from the skin (I think).
Some suggest injecting it in tiny amounts (for pain relief as an auto immune response.

      Often the techniques are combined:

      Anyway here is the link to Martin Lara’s page – not a doctor…but a plumber! : http://users.erols.com/martinlara/testimo.html
The story that really blew me away was the one on Terminally advanced Breast Cancer

I repeat that although I have spent hours searching and reading, I have never tried urine therapy on anyone with cancer. I cannot offer any guarantees or suggestions that this will work, but all I can say is that since reading what I have done on urine therapy , I would have no hesitation in drinking my own wee and at least trying for a ‘miracle’. Everything that I have ever read suggests that urine has no side effects (apart from the issue of getting it down you!).

Another thought would be to look at the ‘lung’ imbalance. In Chinese 5 element theory there are five elements; water, wood, fire, earth and metal. Each corresponds to organs in the body, orificies, smells, colours etc. The lungs belong to the metal element and this also includes the colon, the skin, the father figure and grief…so if there are any significances here it might be worth doing some work.

This leads me to getting yourself a qualified naturopath (I am only training) who can take the patient history and ensure that you work very gently and at the pace required by the patient. Naturopathy believes that no further stress be put on the body; that hydration in the form of fluids and oils is taken care of, that diet is addressed and that the endocrine system and central nervous system are supported; finally electrolyte imbalances will be addressed.

I would also be encouraging you to take advantage of the equinox on Tuesday 20th March. The equinoxes are a particularly powerful time for cleaning – anything done a few days before or after will benefit from added ‘energy’. The equinoxes are one of our natural times of cleansing and if we can support (not suppress) our symptoms at this time or take some time to help ourselves to eliminate (with fasting, enemas, castor oil packing, Epsom salt baths or other such ‘techniques’) then we may set ourselves up for a much healthier state.

This is a very tricky time for you both, not knowing what to do for the best and hesitant to try anything in case it takes away from the precious little time that it seems you have. Remember that you always make the right decision given that time and for those circumstances. Whatever you decide go with your hearts and know that whatever the outcome you have done all that you can, right here, right now.
It is time for courage and for love.

      Much Love from Gemma x

P.S. Do let me know if I can help more with any of this. I’m very pushed for time at the moment otherwise I would be finding and adding many more links, I would be writing up a page for my website titled urine therapy and I would pad out my techniques section which was ‘lost’ when the site went down. I will try to get to this when I can. In the meantime any questions greatly welcomed.

      1. Stefanie,
So sorry. I have just re-read your question and I wonder if you were actually looking for a barrage of different ideas, or whether you were actually looking for solutions within the hospital. So sorry if I presumed wrong and do ignore my outpouring if this is the case. This month has been quite difficult with ‘what if’s’ and ‘maybe’s’ as I am sure that you will appreciate.
        Gemma x
